Greetings from the “Land of Smiles.” Maybe not all smiling so much with all the current flooding in Thailand and North Carolina & Florida as well.
Continuing daily reports this rainy season of flooding and flash flood warnings keep coming in from throughout Thailand. Chaig Mai hit record high water levels. Water in the Ping River at the Nawarat Bridge in Chiang Mai reached 5.25m, the highest level for 50 years, submerging the downtown area and making many roads impassable. Wow, first time in our over 15-years that DT has reported any flood related news. Stay safe to all in affected areas.
In this report we feature Nattakhom, top Thai darts player – “Now-a-Days & Back Then.” The report begins with an advert with my caricature of Nattakhom for the combined end of season party of Bangkok’s then, three darts leagues. Yes, believe it or not, back then Bangkok had three active darts leagues.
Tuesday LSDL (Lower Sukhumvit Darts League) – beginers to intermediate level players. Thursday BIDL (Bangkok International Darts League) – intermediate level to Thailand’s top darts players. And Friday BMDL (Bangkok Mickey-Mouse Darts League) open to all with the “aim” of attracting new players & venues.
One of the most important words in the Thai language is fun (สนุก) as seen in pics with Charinee and Tum helping Nattakhom re-create his cartoon, caricature pose in the advert. Party location was at The Sportsman, original location in Washington Square now at Sukhumvit Soi 13. Pics with Paul Lim and Lee Peppard also from WS, Bourbon St original location, an excellent restaurant now located on Ekimai, Sukhumvit Soi 63.
Next seen are pics from the “Bullshooter – Hong Kong Open – Feb 2009.” Many thanks to our long-time, good friend – Rob Heckman for organizing this first time Thai Team to this event. Seen in pics is Rob along with Yong Thanawat Gaweenuntavong, Giffy & Nattakhom. Rob’s been back to Thailand since that event, but a lot of Thai darts players want to know: “Rob, aren’t you way over-due for a visit back to Thailand?”

Nattakhom “Now-a-Days.” Moving on, you can see that Nattakhom is still very active on the local darts scene as well as competing internationally. Fit Flight Challenge 2024 sponsored by Cosmo Darts, Fit Flight and Darts Choice hold events through the year with some of Thailand’s top darts players.
Last December Nattakhom played in the PDD (Professional Darts Developer) Malaysia Cup 2023. This past September he played in the Cosmo Malaysia Open Darts Championship 2024 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. And coming in November the WDF 20th Asia Pacific Cup & 15th Taiwan Open Darts Tournament in Taipei, Taiwan.
I hope this DT Player Report brings back some pleasant memories from “Back Then” and lets you know what Nattakhom is up to “Now-a-Days.” Oh, and yes. That is Yong Thanawat Gaweenuntavong in the last cartoon pic in the gallery. Until next report, Good Darts & Stay Well ! – Johnny
